Monster Girl Doctor Character Analysis

It's time to once again let an ancient genius assess the present, as Sun Tzu's incredible wisdom returns to rate more of anime's finest.

As a quick refresher, here's how the rating system works. Sun Tzu cited Five Essential Victory Factors: Morality, Weather, Terrain, Good Leadership, and Preparation. Those under consideration can earn 0-10 points each here. However, he also cited Five Fatal Failings of Leadership: Recklessness, Cowardice, A Hasty Temper (Anger, for simplicity), Delicacy of Honor (DOH), and Caring too much about the troops (Over-caring). Those under consideration can lose 0-10 points in each. At the end, the scores are tallied, with each character aiming for 40 or better.

This time, we're analyzing a truly unique lot: the protagonist and his primary love interests from the classic comedy Monster Girl Doctor. As always, to keep things fair, we'll analyze them in the order they were formally introduced.

Preparation	8	He's great most of the time, like when ordering the tools for Skadi's surgery and arranging Tisalia's shoeing, but still occasionally wings things.

Terrain	9	Due to her assassin training, strength, and surprising mobility, this isn't an issue.
Good Leadership	7	She's got some great points, like when she restrained Tisalia and got Aranhnia to help with Skadi, but often wastes them with her jealousy.
Preparation	7	She's quite capable, especially with organizing and crafting potions/poisons, but mostly wings things elsewhere.

Anger	-8	Serious red flag. She's got a violent temper, one that's triggered by literally any girl getting close to Glenn.

Anger	-5	She's got a slight temper, although it can be easily triggered when she's frustrated.

Terrain	7	She's very capable, but doesn't always pay attention, like when she neglected her hooves in the arena or didn't spot the unstable rocks in the mountains.
Good Leadership	7	She's extremely effective, given her ability to organize the gladiators and harpies, but occasionally goes rogue.
Preparation	5	She's a skilled organizer and great at training, but her refusal to get shoed and attempt to face Dione alone were major fails.

Anger	-7	Slight red flag. She's got a fierce temper, especially when she's annoyed, jealous, or embarrassed, the most famous such example being when reacting to Sapphee's comment about Dione: "And you, stop being so right all the time!"
Delicacy of Honor	-8	Serious red flag. She's very proud and extremely vain, something she openly displayed when first meeting Glenn and Sapphee.
Over-caring	-8	Serious red flag. She's infatuated with Glenn, but also cares deeply for her attendants, Kaye and Lorna.

Weather	2	Insisting on staying out of the water for so long almost killed her.
Terrain	8	She's pretty good at navigating the waterways, and her ability to use water magic in the harpy rescue was very impressive.
Good Leadership	4	She's got great big sister instincts, but is more follower than leader.
Preparation	6	She's an amazing singer, and was instrumental in finding Kunai's missing arm, but she mostly wings things everywhere else.

Good Leadership	7	She's a natural leader, negotiator, and diplomat, but her failure to get treated for her parasite infection was a major fail.
Preparation	10	She's amazing, given how she built a city that'd house and accept humans and monsters without bias, as well as redirected smiths to build surgical tools rather than weapons.

Anger	-5	She's got a violent temper, one with a lot of venom, although she calmed down significantly after her recovery, hence another lower rating.
Delicacy of Honor	-8	Serious red flag. She's very cocky, something that only worsens after her recovery.
Over-caring	-4	She didn't like Glenn initially, but soon had a change of heart.

Reviewing the Results

This was a true mixed bag, and no doubt a huge reason for the series' high drama, epic ego showdowns, and even some intense personal failures. Then again, as has been said before: follow Sun Tzu, and you'll win; ignore him, and you'll lose.
