Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 28th, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how AnimeTrivia.app ("we," "us,", "Company," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website https://animetrivia.app (the "Site").
What information do we collect?
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, such as your email address and display name, when you create an account.
We also automatically collect certain information about your device and usage of the Site, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, and information about how you interact with the Site.
Account information
Creating an account is optional. If you choose to create one, we collect and store the following:
- Identity. Your email address; your password, which is managed by Firebase Authentication (we never see or store the plaintext password); your display name or contributor username (chosen by you, or derived from the part of your email address before the @ if you do not pick one); and your profile photo URL, only if you sign in with Google.
- From Google Sign-In. If you choose "Continue with Google," Google shares your email address, name, and profile photo with us so we can create and identify your account.
- Quiz activity. The quizzes you play, your scores, accuracy, and play history, saved to your account. These scores are self-reported — you tap "Got it" or "Missed it" yourself and we do not independently verify them.
- Submitted questions and attribution. Any trivia questions and answers you submit. If a moderator approves a question you submitted, your chosen display name may be shown publicly as the contributor. Your underlying account identifier is never shown publicly.
- Challenges. When you create or play a challenge, we store the challenge scores and your display name. A challenge has a shareable link, and the challenge page — including the creator's display name and the score to beat — is viewable by anyone who has that link.
- Newsletter. If you opt in — during signup or later from your account settings — your account email is added to our newsletter list. The opt-in is off by default and you can turn it off at any time (see "Your account and data choices" below).
- Local browser storage (anonymous play). Before you create an account, your quiz progress is stored only in your browser's local storage. On your first login, that progress is imported into your account one time.
